The veneer on this dresser was damaged beyond repair. Watch me restore it back to life! I wasn’t sure how the veneer edge bands would be as an alternative to one large veneer. They normally aren’t used to cover a wide area, and I couldn’t find anyone online who attempted the same thing. My main concern was that the contact cement would seep up between the strips as I pressed them down, but this wasn’t a big issue. It happened in a few spots, and it was easily fixed with some careful knifing. In the end, the piece turned out to my satisfaction, especially since the stain color was very close to what I had envisioned with the Flagstone stain. However, I probably won’t ever use veneer edge bands to cover a large surface area again… Buying a sheet of veneer would have been WAY easier! Oh and I forgot to mention in the video. I didn’t stain the drawers like I did with the body because I noticed that the veneer on the drawers were “reddish”, so using the same Flagstone stain wouldn’t have resulted in the same color as the body. Since the handles were already black, I didn’t want the drawers themselves to be distracting. Thus, I decided to just topcoat right after sanding the existing stain. Anyways, thank you for watching! Ha ha ha ha! So werid, I was just thinking of the development of that game and how it arose! And of coarse, its a world wide affair!
@Серёга Кошкин Who do you think gave you a brain?
@Barbara Menard мозг просто развивался в процессе эволюции его никто не давал 🙂
Right????
You successfully gave a second life to this piece of furniture while respecting it. Honestly I would have thrown away the handles, but the end result is clean and consistent, congrats.
That is amazing!!!👍
The gray doesn’t work for me because it awkwardly covered all the magnificent work you did with the veneer!
BUT…..another exquisite piece!
That color isnt GREYt at all
1:08 THAT WAS THE GREATEST TRANSITION EVER
The stain belongs in hell you basically ruined it.
My husband uses these plans from Woodglut and he is very happy with them. However. I love yours!
Horrific
I don’t get the hate over the stain. I absolutely adore the ashy look of it.
You gave CPR to the old gal and she has a lot more life to live. Super good job!
You finished the drawers against the grain for some reason. .. and I have to join in with the people that didn’t like the grey stain .just a matter of personal choice.
Craftsmanship, yes. Finished product, no. Ugly at best. But the journey was wonderful
your choice of drawer pulls was great
I think the stain on the top looks blotchy. I’m wondering if you would’ve used a wood conditioner first if maybe you would have gotten a more even finish? None the less it certainly looks better than it did before and the craftsmanship was amazing! I love the strips of veneer. Such a great idea! Tfs!
