Here’s the news, Weston, on high school sports and our newfound spirit and spirit club. It’s working!! [Ed. Shoutout to Sandra Gavris!] Last night, the Owl and two owlets went to the Weston-Wayland Boys Basketball game and it was full of Weston supporters. Not only was there a full student section (the Cats Den) but a full ‘adult’ section. We blew the normally-noisy-even-while-abroad Wayland crowd away. Yeah, we won, too.

Since I am not a basketball-y person, I will tell you I sat between two basketball-y moms and asked lots of dumb questions. Also got free jelly beans and lots of entertainment. A close first quarter led to a breakaway Weston second quarter where at one point Weston was ahead 34-17. Wait, was that the third quarter? I don’t know because the heat in the gym was unbelievable–we tried to cook the Warriors, as well as our poor Wildcat mascot. Definitely fried my brain.

The best fun for me as a newbie was watching the Williams brothers (freshman and senior, I believe) communicate by sibling vibe and combine for some nutty good plays. And yes, that will be as basketbally as I will get.

Now, as I mentioned in a post last week, senior nights are upcoming with three this very weekend. Catch Boys Wrestling and Girls Basketball tomorrow and Girls Hockey on Saturday night. And just bring $5 to everything because last night cost $5 as a DCL game so maybe Girls Basketball is too. It will be the best $5 you ever spent. So much fun being a Wildcat.

Girls Basketball – Friday, February 3 @ 5:30 pm vs. Newton South

Wrestling – Friday, February 3rd @ 4pm vs. Cohasset

Girls Hockey – Saturday, February 4th @ 5pm vs. Concord Carlisle (hosted at Rivers School, $5 entry). Girls hockey is a co-op with Wayland – go WarCats!

Go ‘cats!
