Global semiconductor sales increased by 3.2% to $573.5 billion in 2022, with China remaining the largest single market, according to a report by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). The SIA’s report stated that China accounted for nearly one-third of total semiconductor sales worldwide. Despite the industry’s sales slumping 14.7% in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the same period the previous year, annual sales still hit a record high. Logic and memory were the largest semiconductor categories by sales, generating $176 billion and $130 billion, respectively. Analog chips, most commonly used in automobiles, consumer goods and computers, saw the biggest increase in sales, up 7.5% to $89 billion in 2022. [SIA]
