The new EA Sports College Football video game is set to be released in July 2023. It had previously been assumed to come out in either July 2022 or July 2023 but according to MattBrownEP on Twitter we now know the game is still 2+ years away.

From the above Tweet, it looks like the CLC communicated with it’s FBS institutions that the new college football video game is set for July 2023.

This will give plenty of time for the NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) rules to be sorted out before the game is official released.

If you remember from our earlier coverage, schools like Notre Dame, Tulane, Northwestern and Fresno State were opting out of the game for that reason.

Now that we have 2+ years to go before EA Sports College Football comes out, the chances of NIL rules being finalized (and real players being in the game) have gone up dramatically. Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick expects the NIL rules to be finalized going into this next college football season.

Student athletes deserve to have the same rights as other students on campus…At the end of all this we’ll get to some resolution and student athletes will have name, image, likeness rights, and I’m confident they will have them going into next season.

The later release date also means that it is very likely the game won’t be available on PlayStation 4 or XBOX One and will instead only be available on the XBOX Series X|S and the PlayStation 5.

So now we have a release date. Expect EA Sports College Football 24 to be released in July 2023.

When the new game is finally released, it will have been an entire decade since the last College Football game so we have lots to look forward to!
