is post intends to be a video tutorial where we will show you how to make hotel reservations or book accommodation ensuring you can change the dates –or even cancel your trip- without incurring cancellation fees. By choosing hotels with a free cancellation policy, you will enjoy more freedom and flexible trip dates.

In these uncertain times, booking a hotel room or accommodation for a trip seems a little bit daunting, right? What if borders close again? What if I can’t travel on the planned dates? And the list of possible unforeseen events goes on and on.

We are on a reliable booking website searching for a hotel for a romantic weekend trip to Paris (watch the video down below), and we’ll show you how to book flexibly avoiding cancellation and modification fees. To be safe, check the COVID19 restrictions in place at your destination before you book, and stay alert for changes until the day of your departure.

We enter our search details, and we instantly get a list of beautiful places to stay in Paris. There are so many options, but we should be paying attention to the menus on the left hand side, which allow us to narrow down our search to those accommodations that will fit our budget and needs. Today, we are looking specifically for hotels with a free cancellation policy, and so we make sure this box is checked.

Next, we are only shown hotels and accommodations offering free cancellation, and sometimes also date modification. Beside each room type, we can read the date and time until which cancelling is possible at no cost. This normally ranges from 1 to 3 days prior to checking in to the hotel.

We intend to arrive on October 15, so cancelling for free up to the midnight of October 11 sounds pretty fair. Unless travel requirements change drastically with very short notice, there is no reason why this shouldn’t work out right. If we scroll down, we find a cheaper nightly rate for the same room, including one free date change until October 12. However, this comes with a price: paying the whole stay online at the time of booking, and renouncing our right to ask for a refund.

In order to find an accommodation that fits our budget and needs, we go back to the results of our search, and we will apply some filters so that we can narrow it down again to three star hotels only, and more specifically to those with the lowest price per night per guest. The cheapest one is the hotel Terminus in Paris city centre. We click on it, and we are able to see pictures and a more detailed description of its guest services and amenities.

Scrolling down, we confirm that all of its rooms have free cancellation policy, and that no prepayment is required. In this case, we can cancel at no charge up to the midnight of October 12 for the same trip dates, that is, 48 hours before our arrival.

Finally, we book the Classic Plus room for two guests and two nights with free cancellation for 269 dollars. We don’t need to register or pay for it yet, and we’ll get a confirmation via e-mail immediately. Paris, here we come!
