My coin shop has tried to get me interested in pre-33, but I’m not savy enough to make a smart buy. With the economy on shaky ground, I’d rather have bullion that’s easy to value and buy. Just me though…
The same reason i only stack pre 65 silver. Prep stack. Why does anyone accumulate anything! Pre prepare for bad times. Pre 33 pre 65. Its my savings account. My investments are there for a different purpose. That purpose is to double my money. My savings is for when im old and slow.

The US Govt WOULD need to pay you fair market value for coins that sell for a premium, which is why so many pre33 coins were not required to be surrendered. You could keep 5 ozt of any gold coin and you could keep coins that had special collector value. Most people did not read the executive order in 1933 and turned in more than they had to. But the Federal Govt was not about to go into the coin business. They were only interested in coins that traded at bullion prices, less the five ounce exemption.
Yes. Many people also viewed this as their patriotic duty. I don’t think it was a matter of ignorance, just wanting to help.

I’m a mostly pre 65/33 stacker. Both the same reason. The 10 dollars face value is as far as I go because 20’s are way to expensive. And yea I got modern too but for different reasons. Your spot on Campbell.
