Terme
We were staying in a fabulous family-run agritourism place called Casale Terre Rosse. This idyllic oasis has everything a young couple like us would need in order to truly relax and forget about stressful events around the world. The place is located about 5 minutes driving from the lovely Saturnia village where you can eat a lovely dinner at Ristorante I Due Cippi (the best choice for meat lovers) and around 10 minutes driving from the previously mentioned Cascate de Mulino.
I often choose agri stays over hotels because I love the fact such places have a soul. Our cosy room with a terrace overlooking the garden with cypresses was one thing but the whole premises of Casale Terre Rosse would allow you to get lost. We really enjoyed a glass of wine at the top of the hill! Another benefit of such stays are healthy breakfasts featuring products from the local distributors. I loved my sweet Italian breakfast – pastries, cappuccino and a slice of local cheese. My boyfriend enjoyed from local hams and bread with olive oil. It was such a lovely start of the day.
Despite the fact I find this CTR an awesome stay for families with little children and doggos, I think it is also an ideal destination for a cosy little honeymoon for the ones not seeking for luxury but a laidback atmosphere and peace.
Casale Terre Rosse offers a discount for Terme di Saturnia Club to their guests – just ask at the check in.
There is a lot to do in the area, although it is a very quiet district. Saturnia village is very lovely but quite small – with only one gelateria and a few restaurants. However, you can see some nearby historical towns, such as Pitigliano and Montemerano.
We chose to experience Bagni San Filippo, located only 1hr 15 minutes driving from our place. These hot springs are much warmer (around 52 °C and less touristy. This lovely place is located in Castiglione d’Orcia in the Province of Siena which is absolutely free to use. These thermal waters are rich in calcium carbonate, which means they are particularly great for skin. The whole area is surrounded by woods which makes it a perfect spot to truly relax.
Tuscany is my favorite region in Europe. It is my goal to explore every part of it before I die – by far I managed to see quite a lot of it. I encourage you to take a look at my previous article about the castles and more Tuscan places.
