TuSimple denies founders face US spying charges · TechNode

Self-driving truck company TuSimple has denied a Wall Street Journal report that US authorities are considering economic-espionage charges against the company’s leaders, namely co-founders Hou Xiaodi and Chen Mo, as well as current chief executive Cheng Lu, for improper technology transfer to China. In a statement sent to Bloomberg on Thursday, TuSimple spokesperson Megan Strader said that the allegations made by anonymous sources are not consistent with the company’s discussions with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. Strader added that TuSimple has always adhered to standard industry practices when sharing information with Hydron Inc., a Chinese hydrogen-trucking startup founded by Chen, so that the latter company will not be able to replicate its technology.
