In th e second one-day match, India won the match by 8 wickets with New Zealand due to great bowling by Mohammad Shami 3/18 (6). After winning this match, India won the series (2-0) in the three one-day match series against New Zealand.

Earlier, India won the toss and chose to bowl first thus New Zealand first batted and was all out at only 108/10 in only 34.3 overs due to great bowling by Mohammad Shami 3/18 (6), Washington Sundar 2/7 (3), Hardik Pandya 2/16 (6), Mohammad Siraj 1/10 (6), Shardul Thakur 1/26 (6), and Kuldeep Yadav 1/29 (7). Glenn Philips 36 (52), Mitchell Santner 27 (39), and Michael Bracewell 22 (30) were good batting from the New Zealand side. After this inning, New Zealand set a low target of 109 runs in 50 overs for India to win the second one-day match.

During chasing, India loses 2 wickets, reached the target of 109 runs in only 20.1 overs, and won the match by 8 wickets with New Zealand due to good batting by Rohit Sharma 51 (50), and Shubham Gill 40* (53). Both Mitchell Santner 1/28 (4.1), and Henry Shipley 1/29 (5) were good bowling from the New Zealand side.

Mohammad Shami (IND), 3/18 (6) was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in bowling.
