Chinese automaker Geely is aiming to sell at least 600,000 electric vehicles in 2023, which would be 83% more than the 328,700 EVs the company sold last year, Gan Jiayue, chief executive of Geely Automobile Group, said on Saturday. In particular, the Hong Kong-listed carmaker hopes to double sales of its hybrid powertrain vehicles under the Leishen Power portfolio, and battery EVs under the premium Zeekr brand, Gan told employees in an internal memo viewed by media outlet Sina. The company’s general car sales increased 7.1% year-on-year to 1.43 million units in 2022, and that number is expected to grow 15% to 1.65 million units this year, according to Gan.
