Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo’s international shopping platform Temu is conducting internal testing in Canada, according to reports. More than half of the items on the platform are already available on the Canadian site, Chinese media outlet Jiemian reported Feb. 3. A Temu merchant told the outlet that the e-commerce app is expected to launch in Canada in the first half of 2023. Canada will be Temu’s second market after its launch in the US last September. Products and inventory will be linked in both markets, eliminating the need for merchants to re-list their goods. By offering low prices and numerous coupons, Temu saw widespread downloads in late 2022, ranking first in the iPhone App Store among all free apps in the US last month, according to analytics firm Sensor Tower.
