Earlier, India won the toss and chose to bat first and made a huge score of 234/4 in 20 overs due to great batting by Shubman Gill 126* (63), Rahul Tripathi 44 (22), and Hardik Pandya 30 (17). Daryl Mitchell 1/6 (1), Michael Bracewell 1/8 (1), Ish Sodhi 1/34 (3), and Blair Tickner 1/50 (3) were wicket-taking bowlers from the New Zealand side. After this inning, India set a huge target of 235 runs in 20 overs for New Zealand to win the third or last T20 match.

During chasing, New Zealand was all out at only 66 runs in 12.1 overs and lose this match by 168 runs with India due to great bowling by Hardik Pandya 4/16 (4), Umran Malik 2/9 (2), Shivam Mavi 2/12 (2), and Arshdeep Singh 2/16 (3). Both Daryl Mitchell 35 (25) and Mitchell Santner 13 (13) were good bowling from the New Zealand side.

Shubman Gill (IND), 126* (63), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting.

Hardik Pandya (IND) was declared as the Player of the Series due to his great performance in bowling and batting in the whole series.
