  1. It’s not always the gun but the player. But if you want better accuracy and faster rate of fire then yeah a better gun will do the job 🤣

  2. AMP shocker $1000 gun and shoots like a charm y’all don’t need a gun over 1000 long as it shoots good and fast u should be good to go!

  3. I’ve owned “Custom 98’s” with only about $200 in mods (barrel, remote line and expansion chamber), and I’ve owned $3k fully customed Cockers and used a couple electrics. In 20 years of playing, I learned that once you get out of the “wal-mart-level” markers (about $300+) all you REALLY need to do is slap a good barrel on a gun with a light / quick trigger and find good paint (quality shell and round) and from there its all down to player talent and skill.

My $500 Custom ’98 with 16″ barrel, was just as good as my $3k Cocker (and in fact the ’98 had a faster cycle time for more RPS). I’ve used Tippmann 68Carbines, ’98’s, ’98 Customs, A-5’s and their old-school pumps (which were solid as a brick). We’re they “Impressive” guns stock? No. But in the hands of a skilled player they still put paint on target.

    1. My friend had a tippmann 68 special hand me down from his brother when we all started playing before upgrading, but the tippmann made a very unique sound when it fired. you always knew where he was which was also a kind of reassurance knowing your friend was nearby to cover your 6 and other blind spots

    2. @GrAYvTrAnE The 68 Special was a great gun. Not the best, but solid and reliable. Tough enough that you can use them as “rental guns”, but good enough that with a little love you can use them as a good working marker at most levels below “professional”.

I highly recommend the old Tippmann lines. They aren’t “pretty”, they don’t have sexy features, but they work. EVERY time. Their only real drawback was the stock barrel was kinda janky. Sure, it worked. But at any good distance you’re better off with an after-market barrel upgrade.

  4. I still play with my Planet Eclipse FT1 and FT2s and still keep up with these new and expensive markers. Money or new gear means nothing if you can’t do anything with it.

  5. As someone who’s used adrenalines, TM40s , the 1.6, and currently the LV2 , none compare in terms of GRIT like the 170r. I used the 170 for an entire season without cleaning it once , that marker was dirtier than the bottom of a boot of a soldier in champagne France circa 1917, it still shot straighter then the most straightest straightening straight line you could fathom. Like gandalf and his staff a mere 500$ used marker carried me like the wings of Saint Michael through the treacherous gates of divisional paintball.
