Choosing the first film for this club is an embarrassment of riches. I mean, go back and look at that list. You can not go wrong.
So without further ado, the first great film is Yojimbo. Why Yojimbo? Samurais and violence and well, yeah, that sounds like the perfect film for the degenerates of Forgotten Flix.
Of course, I have no idea if any of that is in the film because I’ve never seen it. Which is the point.
So how do you take part in the Great Movies Film Club?
First, you watch the movie.
Then you can discuss it. Comment as much as you want below. However, please keep your comments spoiler free on this post.
Next week, we will open a spoiler allowed discussion post for those who watched the movie.
There may be other Yojimbo-related posts throughout the month of June. In fact, if you feel your comment has a particular take or is more of an in-depth essay, send it along to me (email link in the bio below) and you may have a chance to be a featured guest blogger.
Remember, the purpose of this club is to keep Roger Ebert’s love of great movies alive. Please feel free to let me know how to make this experience as rewarding as possible for you.
I hope you enjoy Yojimbo and I look forward to discussing it with you!Share
