I don’t recommend using matte finish on furniture as it’s incredibly difficult to clean. If you’re going to do a matte finish I would use chalk finish paint and seal it with furniture wax.

Would you use a similar process to paint stained kitchen cabinets?
You could, yes, but I would probably use a paint sprayer to get the smoothest possible finish and also to save time.

Nope I do it the same way!
What level sander were you using?
I usually use 220 grit but any fine grit will do. You just don’t want to too coarse.
Thank you we actually pented book selves and nest of tables with Matt paint . We had to do at least 2 coats. Wish we had done a gloss now. We waxed them but not made any difference. X

Loved the tutorial. Thank you so much. I had never seen before that Murphy oil cleaner,where can I buy it please . I want to paint my mother’s rocking chair for my grandchild, it has a lot of round pieces, any tip to deal with the round parts? Thanks a lot!
You should be able to find it on Amazon or at Home Depot. For the round parts I would probably use a short angled brush. Good luck!

This was so helpful! How long do you wait for the top coat to cure if you used a polyurethane semi-gloss spray?
It depends on the type of spray, it should tell you on the can! I would give it at least a day or so.
