  1. My parents have matching signet style family crest wedding bands, basic to look at but intricate upon closer look. I always thought I would get something similar but as I draw closer to that stage of life I have realized I will likely have an entirely different style that better suits me and my mate.

    1. @Daniela Both their rings are gold only signet rings. Dad’s is proportionally bigger so maybe a mm larger than mom’s but other than size they are identical.

  2. I hate any kind of jewellery, while looking at watches online I ended up picking a platinum Cartier wedding band. Nothing fancy and a simple design.

  3. I’m gay and looking into an engagement ring for my partner. Just thinking about what would work with the ring I want to get him as an engagement ring.

  4. A friend’s son was planning to purchase a tungsten wedding ring. I burst out laughing! Tungsten wholesales for just over *$3 lb or 21-cents per ounce!* “I didn’t know that.” I said, “Make sure he doesn’t pay a lot for it no matter how pretty they make it look.”

  5. Hmm. How interesting. In my culture we don’t really buy separate wedding bands – you can if you want but it’s optional. The engagement ring is her wedding ring and the man gets his own wedding ring. The woman buys his ring and it can’t be a cheap – silver is a no-no. If he doesn’t like yellow gold, it’s platinum or white gold and usually will have diamonds or some other precious stone. His ring is important because it represents his value to his wife and is symbolic so it’s insulting to give him a crap ring and expect him to wear it. It depends obviously on finances.

  6. Personally I think a wedding ring should be simple ring with no frills. It’s a ring about commitment not about bling. The material is a different conversation depending on how hard wearing you need it. Any one that flashes some diamond encrusted wedding ring I’d probably question the reason.
