Nea is one of those people I met and just wanted to know more about immediately. She is driven and experimental. Originally from Finland, she wants to respect the traditional wine making process and classical wines found in Bordeaux, but she is also very open to trying something new. The organic and more ‘experimental’ wines have been a huge hit. In fact, she’s all but sold out until the next bottling (there is still some rose left, if you run!). Which is all very impressive for a relatively new winemaker. (You also need to try her delicious balsamic vinegar.)

FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE COTTAGE

I’m not sure where she finds the time, but over the last year she has also created a new French/Northern European fusion gite on her property. Wine welcomes you to your stay where you can wake up looking at the grape vines, all surrounded by pastoral settings. Nea might even be bringing in fresh eggs from the chickens on her vineyard.

The charming gite sleeps 6-8 people in three bedrooms and on a sofa bed in the upstairs lounge. It has a nice, clean kitchen, complete with dishwasher and washing machine, and one full shower with two toilets. There is also a pool on the grounds for those hot summer days! The bonus, it is pet friendly.

Her love of food goes back to her work in Michelin kitchens, so she is happy to talk food and share her favorite local foods, farms and restaurants. Rions, which is a small, charming and authentic little village is great for a walk and there is a wonderful restaurant that Nea recommends called La Maison Georges.
