Mandalorian-S3-poster

Woo wee!! Nothing perks up a gray Tuesday after a 3-day weekend like a trailer of a highly-anticipated series! Can’t believe it’s been two years since we’ve seen a new episode of The Mandalorian – yep, S2 season finale was released back in December 2020! I still remember my state of shock seeing Luke Skywalker save the day… I certainly did not see THAT coming.

Now, I skipped The Book of Boba Fett series as it just didn’t seem well worth investing in, but I did see the one episode featuring Grogu. For some reason, I missed seeing the teaser back in September so a lot of the footage here is new to me!

It’s gotta be good to be Pedro Pascal! By March 1, he’d have two highly-rated series streaming on two major services: this one and The Last Of Us on HBO which I’m looking forward to seeing as well, maybe we’ll make it a Pascal TV Marathon! So he’s back as Din Djarin and looks like he’s leading a group of Mandalorians? I don’t know what they’d be called but they’re wearing similar helmets and armor as Din.

One thing that strikes me seeing Din and Grogu walking together in this bustling marketplace is how similar that market is to Planet Batuu in Disneyland Park’s Galaxy’s Edge. My hubby and I had been there a couple of times and our favorite ride is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance which beats everything else we’ve ridden in ALL the parks, including the overrated Avatar ride. Well, I’m hoping one day they’ll add a Mandalorian-themed ride! Sorry I’m off on a tangent here, ahah.

Jon Favreau is back as the showrunner, executive producing it with Dave Filoni, director Rick Famuyiwa, Colin Wilson and Lucasfilm honcho Kathleen Kennedy, among others. Per Wikipedia, Favreau wrote all eight episodes of the season, working with Noah Kloor on the 3rd and Filoni on the 4th and 7th episodes.

What’s exciting though is that we’ve got some great new talents behind the scenes, including Minari’s director Lee Isaac Chung, Black Panther & Mudbound cinematographer Rachel Morrison, actor Carl Weathers, co-director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard, who directed two episodes of The Mandalorian in S1 and S2.

Fun seeing returning characters like Weather‘s Greef Karga, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee‘s Captain Carson Teva, and Amy Sedaris‘ Peli Motto, who yells ‘May the Force be with you! as Mando and Grogu fly away. I didn’t see Katee Sackhoff‘s Bo-Katan nor Giancarlo Esposito‘s Moff Gideon but they’re credited on IMDb so we shall see. Of course, Ludwig Göransson‘s iconic score remains one of my favorite TV scores of the past decade!

There’s a lot going on in this trailer but the one thing that got the loudest reaction from my hubby is when all the Jedis show up…

The scene looks similar to the one when Grogu recalls his memory of Order 66 where all the jedis got slaughtered in the one Boba Fett episode I watched. Here it is again for those who want a refresher.

In any case, I just might rewatch the last few episodes of S2 prior to the S3 premiere on March 1. I wish Disney+ would release all 8 episodes at once like Netflix does, but then again it’s kind of fun to anticipate what’s happening next week after week.

What do you think of the trailer? Are you anticipating S3 of The Mandalorian?
