Why do engagement rings exist? And why do engagement rings have diamonds? It turns out, betrothal rings are much older than diamond engagement rings. Before the late 19th century, diamond engagement rings were uncommon, even though royals sometimes exchanged diamond rings. #EngagementRing #marriage #WeirdHistory

  1. My partner got me a silver band with a pale aquamarine because it’s my birthstone. I LOOOVE its pale blue green hue. We won’t ever get actually married because it’s not for us, but we exchanged rings in our own little celebration of our relationship. His is from a local jewelry artisan I found with a couple different metals, no stones. I love our rings.

  2. fuck buying all that crap, if i choose to marry il just get a tattoo on my ring finger. wast of monies smh

  3. I actually think diamonds as a gemstone are pretty neat (and breathtaking if they are cut well) because of their sheer hardness and solidity. I absolutely hate predatory and exploitive capitalism so I am pleased to be wearing a Montana sapphire with recycled diamond accents. Diamonds are coming to their end like the rest of our late stage capitalist society

  4. I come from a country that does do this. There’s no sign of whatever to know if a woman or a man is married except their marriage certificate.
Marriage is extremely in humility, love and equality in my society. ❤️

  5. I’ve never like the idea of a diamond engagement ring personally. I’ve always found them generic and bland.
I’ve maintained for years that when it finally comes to it if a man ever asked me to marry him with a diamond ring I’d tell him no. Because he obviously doesn’t know me enough to marry me if you don’t even know I don’t like diamond rings.
