    1. Ugh I wish I could record a video for you like that, but I honestly don’t remember what I did. I think I used a CSV file to get most of it, but it doesn’t transfer all that well if you have long titles on Etsy!

  1. Been thinking about jumping ship on woocommerce, constantly dealing with issues with integrations breaking as a small business owner I have better things to do with my time then fixing the site

    1. That’s exactly why we switched! The integrations breaking is the WORST! I hated waking up to find out something was wrong with my website.

  2. Hi Andrea, I am not a merchant trying to start a business but someone who is learning software development. Question? When you had issues with WordPress where did you look when searching for someone to fix your application? I have never used these types of platforms before because I’ve learning web development and fairly recent, I decided to pivot instead into platforms like Shopify and WordPress. Any insight you could provide would be very beneficial, thank you for your very well detailed video.

    1. Hi William! Thanks for watching! To be honest, when integrations broke, I had to fix them myself. I don’t have the budget to have someone on call all the time to fix tech stuff and I couldn’t wait to get on people’s calendars for things like that. When I wanted specific code stuff done that was able to wait, I would contact the developer of my theme and have them code it for me!

    2. @Andrea Vehige Oh that makes sense now. You select types of themes for your site, and I am assuming some were created by developers on that platform. Actually, that does give me insight in how they probably manage that particular platform, thank you. The information you provided is useful. Also, thank you for replying back so quickly I greatly appreciate it and wish you the best in your business.

  3. I’m still studying this stuff but so far my understanding is the advantage of WordPress + WooCommerce is that WordPress is a highly refined blog platform that also allows you to bolt on an an e-commerce store, while Shopify is an e-commerce store that allows you to bolt on a blog, but Shopify’s blog features are (at least right now) inferior to WordPress. So it really depends on if your goal is to attract customers to a blog, or to an e-commerce store. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong. I guess the obvious question is, if you want to use WordPress to blog, can’t you just skip WooCommerce and plug Shopify directly into WordPress. Not sure how well that works. Thank you

    1. i think you are correct! i def would not try to have a profitable blog on any other platform but wordpress. i have no experience with the shopify plug-in!

  4. shopify is costly and a store on shopify means you don’t have full control. shopify can suspend your store on a copyright complaint without asking you.

    1. we haven’t had any issues with that and have found that shopify was about the same price as wordpress after the subscriptions we needed to run it!

  5. I’ve been on wordpress for years and not many sales there due to marketing I guess, whereas you bringing in more sales on shopify is what has my attention. lol. I had my wordpress through Go Daddy so they hosted and updated, so a lot of downtime also, but then paying for all the plugins, security, ssl, woo commerce, and me not being a techy means paying someone to continuously oversee everything is a pain. Giving shopify a try today and getting someone from fivver to build it out so I can start out on a good foot while I learn the ins and outs. Sorry so long, but TFS

    1. good for you! i definitely find shopify to be wayyyy easier and more seamless than wordpress! hope you love it!

  6. i got my store banned TWICE on Etsy with no reason!
at first i mailed them a complaint and they say sorry they might made a mistake then unbanned me. BUT then they ban me again in the next month! WTH

  7. Why did woocommerce break all the time? Was something related with updates? Isn’t there any managed service for woocommerce that “just work”?

    1. if there was, i either didn’t know about them or they were cost prohibitive! it was always a battle between how stuff “should’ve” worked and how stuff actually did work.
