They develop the overall layout and production design for applications such as advertisements, brochures, magazines, and reports. Graphic designers, also referred to as graphic artists or communication designers, combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of websites and printed pages. They may use a variety of design elements to achieve artistic or decorative effects. Graphic designers work with both text and images. They often select the type, font, size, color, and line length of headlines, headings, and text. Graphic designers also decide how images and text will go together in print or on a webpage, including how much space each will have. When using text in layouts, graphic designers collaborate with writers, who choose the words and decide whether the words will be put into paragraphs, lists, or tables. Through the use of images, text, and color, graphic designers may transform data into visual graphics and diagrams to make complex ideas more accessible. Graphic design is important to market and sell products, and it is a critical component of brochures and logos. Therefore, graphic designers often work closely with people in advertising and promotions, public relations, and marketing. Frequently, designers specialize in a particular category or type of client. For example, some designers create the graphics used on product packaging, and others may work on the visual designs used on book jackets. Graphic designers need to keep up to date with software and computer technologies in order to remain competitive. Some individuals with a background in graphic design become postsecondary teachers and teach in design schools, colleges, and universities. Some graphic designers specialize in experiential graphic design. These designers work with architects, industrial designers, landscape architects, and interior designers to create interactive design environments, such as museum exhibitions, public arts exhibits, and retail spaces. 1. INFJ-A and I’m a Graphic Designer. Actually very interesting, for the longest time I thought I needed to be more extroverted to be in this field 😂

  2. Thank god, I was getting worried that graphic design wouldn’t be in demand as I had hoped it to be. Turns out, it’s extremely in demand. For what the job gives and what you need to do for the career, I thought the job was almost too good to be true, but thank god getting this career might just be a possibility.

    1. Can you tell me more about graphic designs and what you plan on doing Bc I’m currently exploring it too I’m a freshman in college. I live in VA

  3. Is this career highly competitive? I am an older student, with no relevant experience, im trying to find a career i can work from home due to disability, my dream job would be a well paid interior designer/architect/porject manager. But that career path doesnt work for my disability. I worry about having to compete or finding it hard to get a job if i take a route such as this.

  4. Awaiting a decision on disability which prohibits commercial driving. I’m sure vocational rehab is required and wonder if in my 50s if this path is plausible.

  5. Infj here looking to switch from teaching to finishing up my design path. Any tips in the comments? Ps I need a mentor

  6. Endless opportunities await those who want to find a career in graphic design. Design is an incredible career for creative thinkers.
It could be great for those who love art and, at the same time, know how to innovate through design and conceptualize ideas to provide solutions for design problems.

  7. I love that you included an mbti in here 😂 but I’m surprised to see ISFP so low. it’s a common brought up trade over on the ISFP Reddit thread
