Thanks for the advise and opinions. I do have a bunch of smaller gold bars and 10 gram bars that got killer deals on basically at spot price and i know they are legit cause i bought them from legit dealers. Im not a fan of gold bars as much as coins but i guess my plan was to later on trade them all in on larger 1 ounce coins or something as it is hard for me to come up with the cash for full 1 ounce coins all at once.

Any buyer /dealer worth anything can tell you easily. My local guy took scrap, coin, bars, jewelry…etc…. You got to have a trustworthy, person, with skill and experience.
If they are real and the premiums weren’t so bad, I’d buy them all day long.
I figure if JM or SD is selling the bars ,they have been verified. I keep my receipts for re sale
I keep things simple, gold eagles, buffaloes, maples, and slabbed peace dollars.

I fully agree with what you say. I buy gold bars because I plan on melting them to make jewelry in example Cuban link chains and rings. I’d cry to melt a beautiful coin.

i bought one bar i dont like it because i cant play with the damn thing 😒 i lke to hold my gold fan it out on the table and drop stack it you cant do any of that sht with bars in assays

I have a sigma scanner, seems very reliable for bars up to 1 ounce, the only good fakes are tungsten filled and not easily faked in smaller bars but larger bars are definitely harder to detect counterfeit products

I buy and sell regularly and have customers that prefer bars , I only buy from reputable sources and stay with 1 oz and smaller so it can be sigma and or xrf verified without damage to bar or assay cards

Is the bar preference from U.S. customers?
There could very well come a time when gold bars carry a high premium like Eagles & Buffalos. If supply is low and demand is high, those who don’t want them now, will want them when they are in demand. This is when the doubt starts to kick you. Or gold might not do anything special ever and that means rounds/coins aren’t going anywhere like all the doom and gloom predictions say they will.
If you truly believe gold will go WAY UP? Then, gold bars now for cheep make sense. It’s like when nobody wanted off brand silver then high premiums went up and off brand silver/gold started selling much more.
Buy from a reputable dealer who has a xrf machine and u should be fine buying a gold bar
I like bars and use some as a system of barter instead of getting separated from my coins.
