    1. Most continental-built campervans have the sliding door on the offside as UK sales are not sufficient to justify swapping the whole layout – this even includes the VW California. There are exceptions, including one model from Adria, but how often do you park a camper like this in the road? For most it’s not really an issue and only the same as using a UK van abroad

  1. Adria family for us, looking at this I feel the adria family is a solid choice considering we have two double beds , dab with android auto , a 9 speed auto , even an oven too

    1. Adria’s Twin range really started this whole fixed bed campervan genre and they’re still up there with the best

  2. Great and comprehensive review, Peter and thanks. We were looking at Globecar, Malibu and Dreamer but in the end went for a Wildax Solaris XL on the Fiat with the 9 speed automatic. Great level of standard vehicle kit when compared to this Globecar, too.

We love its unusual bunk bed layout – perfect for our 9 year old daughter, and actually find that as the 3 of us are in separate beds we can have the convenience of not disturbing each other if we need the loo in the night. Although I do like the idea of a full rear longways bedroom, the kitchens in these continental vans always seem a bit limited when compared to the full oven/grill, microwave, work space and huge fridge we get in the Solaris. Agree with your comment in the Europa review about Wildax’s hard lounge cushions though!!

    1. I hope our videos helped your decision making. Now you’ve got a ‘van why not take out a subscription to MMM magazine for loads of ideas on places to go, campsites, accessories, etc? You can get the digital version at motorhome.ma/mmmpocketmags
I agree that bunk bed layouts are great with kids but they are very rare in campervans (rather than coachbuilt motorhomes). Another maker of bunk bed campervans, for anyone searching one out, is Dreamer.

  3. One design fault is No restraint on the rear doors. They swing free in the wind, resulting in smashed windows. Globecar must be aware of the fault. They display a small sticker warning of potential damage.

  4. Nice Capervan and decent review, tell me please, what is wrong with 120BHP, our Peugeot Boxer Autocruise has 120 BHP, we tow a trailer with a big motorcycle in it, I say in it because we use a custom braked trailer, all up ready for Holidays 4200Kg, no issues with towing up hills and down dales and still returns 34MPG, manual sis speed box.
We have noticed that a lot ofVan conversions now have the sliding door on the offside, a backward step we think.

    1. It all depends what you’re used to. Many buyers in this sector are new to campervans or trading up from a VW T5/T6. In either case, 120bhp will feel very underpowered. My much smaller VW has 150bhp and I wouldn’t want less. Yes, some will be happy with 120bhp but most seem to feel that 140bhp is the right engine for this size of ‘van and the 160bhp is nice if you can afford it – more power (esp torque) makes for a more relaxing drive with fewer gearchanges.
Imported models often have the sliding door on the offside as it’s too costly to redevelop the layout, but few buyers seem to mind.

    2. @Peter V Thanks for the reply, for a fully laden Campervan with 120 HP our van never feels underpowered, no need for more, it is the use of the torque and gears that matter, you and many others would be amazed at the locations we have reached in our campervan, not only on tarmac but fairs admirably off road, although i must admit I am a professional driver, with off road and police training(for my job) which many owners are not.

    1. Sat-nav and radio are easy dealer additions. Carpet is an option that I’d leave at home when staying on grass campsites. I get what you’re saying about oven/grill but plenty of buyers prefer the extra cupboard space in this size of camper

  5. Nice review. I came to this genre of camping from clamping quite recently (Covid driven) and the decision for a PVC was easy based on the kind of exploration we wanted to do. Picking a layout … not so easy. I’m not enthusiastic about the limited ‘garage’ space in this unit. Seems to be a pretty fixed formula – you have stuff in it or you don’t use it.
We searched for various options and I think we were fortunate .. an initial order fell thru (not going to detail that) but we ended up with a Dreamer (Rapido) D60 which really suits our needs for us and a young labrador and a bunch of stuff. The ‘garage’ area is really customisable… we have the extra beds (and it has the full aluminium protection and bike mounts) – but mostly we leave one of the lower beds at home and use the other as a sofa so the flexibility is great – we use the electric drop down bed and the dog sleeps underneath next to the sofa. There are so many clever ideas in these vans . We got it in December I think – just after a lockdown ended – and it sat doing nothing for months and then after a 2 day shake out by Weston Supermare we head off and did the Scottish NC 500 and a month later Devon and Cornwall and Lands End (for the pups matching John of Groats and Lands End photos)

    1. Dreamer has some great campervans in its range, many with unique features. Enjoy yours – I must do the NC500 one day in my VW

  6. one question that is be bothering me for a while now, why EU manufacturers are stil using gas cookers and not use a extra gen on diesel ( like nautical uses ) with will allow the use of induction ? mutch cleaner and easy to use , and no more prapaan space and reserve problems . ( sorry for my Eng , )

    1. I’ve not seen a diesel oven, only diesel hobs and there seem to be some issues still with slow warm up and smell. Gas is widely available and convenient, especially if you have a built-in refillable tank

  7. Great review, Peter. Enjoyed this tour. A very nice bathroom and smart to use the hallway space two ways.
Please get a haircut. Its too messy. Cut and color is needed, dear man. You are looking too Boho. I suppose its Covid-chic.

    1. My daughter has dyed her hair green, so it could be worse… And my hairdresser tells me it suits me longer!
